Ready to get unstuck?

I’m Laura Saune

A licensed counselor, EMDR therapist, mindfulness therapist, Certified Clinical Trauma Professional

I am most passionate about helping people live more fully, have confidence in their self-worth, and have more peace in body and mind.

I felt a dramatic shift in my own ability to manage difficult things through therapy. I want to share the gift of healing with others. I know it is possible to get to a point in life where things aren't so hard.

Maybe you feel overwhelmed and unsafe in the world around you?

Maybe you feel disconnected from yourself and others?

Perhaps you’ve tried many things to stop overthinking and gain control, yet you are tired.

Many of my clients have been to multiple therapists, psychiatrists and doctors and received multiple diagnoses or medication to help manage their symptoms. But they still feel stuck. If that’s you then you are in the right place.

I have a passion for working with clients who have complex backgrounds with many overlapping symptoms.

My Approach to Therapy

My approach is collaborative and creative. Therapy should be a place where you feel like you can be yourself and share your struggles without judgement. I strive to be…

Non-judgmental

I am 100% validating of your experience. I desire to create a space of comfort and safety in which we can work together.  I will never make you feel judged. I will always be curious and allow you to share in your own way. I do not see people through the lens of a diagnosis, believing, rather, that we all share commonalities in our struggle with many different issues.

Holistic

You are not just your thoughts, not just your body, and not just your experiences. There are many factors that influence you such as environment, biology, and life experiences. My hope is to encourage healing and growth in all areas of your life. I am knowledgeable about the affects of trauma on the body and nervous system and how that affects your current functioning. I am also aware of the effects of biology, daily habits, and social connection. Looking at all these areas can help us get a better picture of what is going on in your life.

Flexible

If you are looking for a therapist to give you an assessment, fill out worksheets, and track your symptoms in a systematic way then you should probably find someone else. I believe people are unique and one size does not fit all when it comes to therapy. I encourage flexibility so you are equipped to bend, move and change with life’s difficulties. Flexibility can improve your resilience and coping skills, helping you better manage stress and navigate the uncertainties of life.

Practical

I hope to equip you with skills and tools that you can use for daily life. I believe therapy should move you toward growth and healing. Sometimes healing takes a long time but there should still be growth. If that’s not happening then I will change my approach or help you find the right person to help you.

  • EMDR by-passes the cognitive/thinking part of the brain. Deep-seated dysfunctional beliefs and fears can be changed through the process, with amazing results.

  • ACT changes the way we relate to our thoughts and emotions and gives us a simple strategy for taking more purposeful steps towards fulfillment.

  • Polyvagal theory helps us understand in a simple way the various aspects of our nervous system. Through understanding we can better control our reactions and mold our environment to create peace and harmony in our bodies and minds.

  • Mindfulness is like the cozy blanket of therapy approaches. It's a way of life that allows us to enjoy this moment.
