Online Trauma Therapy in North Carolina

The past doesn’t define you.

You may have arrived here because…

·       You do not feel safe around anyone

·       You have obsessive thoughts or dreams about the past

·       You struggle to connect with people

·       You lack joy in life

·       You can’t handle emotional reactions

·       You are constantly anxious or depressed

·       You dissociate or become disconnected from reality

However you arrived, I’m glad you’re here. Read on to see if my counseling services for trauma might help you.

You may deal with these struggles by shutting down and separating yourself.

It may be difficult to go to work and act like everything is fine. Maybe it’s creating a strain on your relationships and no matter how hard you try you are not able to establish positive connections with people. Memories may intrude into your daily life at the most inconvenient times, making it impossible to enjoy yourself or function.

Maybe you can hold it together and go through the motions of going to work and engaging with people, but you feel like you aren’t really living fully. You may feel like you are doing what is required of you, but you lack true joy and fulfillment.

If this is you: you need a place to heal the pain of the past and regain joy in the present.

I will go with you through that process.

I will support you as you learn how to cope with daily life, providing useful skills that you can use right now. In just a few sessions you can begin your journey of taking back your life and choosing healthy habits instead of self-sabotaging.

I will help you learn about your nervous system and how to change your responses to triggers. It’s actually not rocket-science. There are ways to engage with your nervous system and body that can retrain your mind to begin reacting calmly and in control.

I will encourage you to gently unpack the roots of the trauma and move towards healing. In all honesty, this part of healing can take longer. But it’s necessary to clear and clean out the roots of what is causing your present symptoms. By cleaning out the roots you can move forward in peace and enjoy life.

I will aid you in fading the memory into the background and learning more useful ways of thinking. It can be hard to face those memories but through gentle, slow work you can release them to be in the past where they belong.

My Experience with Trauma Work

I have extensive knowledge and training of how trauma affects the body and mind. I have worked with clients with attachment trauma, who have grown up with abuse and neglect, clients healing from toxic/narcissistic relationships, clients dealing with domestic violence, clients with mild-moderate dissociation, and clients who have experienced sexual assault and medical trauma. I have also worked with clients with eating disorders/disordered eating whose history of trauma manifests with their relationship with food.

My clients ultimately trust me as their therapist because I have a calm and peaceful presence. I’m confident in the work that I do. While you are trying to find your own regulation, I can lend you mine during our sessions.
